Advanced Excerpt (Enhanced Fork)

This plugin provides detailed control over the automatic summaries, or excerpts, generated for posts. It is designed for site owners and theme developers who need more flexibility than the basic system provides, allowing for better presentation on archive, search, and feed pages.

• Length and Format Control: Set the excerpt length by either word or character count. Choose to finish the summary on a complete word or sentence for a cleaner appearance, and customize the ellipsis used to indicate trimmed text.
• HTML Preservation: Keep essential HTML tags like links, emphasis, or lists within the excerpt. You can specify exactly which tags are allowed, preventing summaries from appearing as plain, unformatted text blocks.
• Read-More Links: Automatically append a customizable 'read more' link to the end of excerpts. Options include setting the link text, making it open in a new tab, and even linking the entire excerpt text to the full post.
• Developer Flexibility: Theme developers can use a dedicated template function (the_advanced_excerpt()) to call the plugin with custom parameters directly from theme files, bypassing the global settings for specific design needs.
• Selective Filtering: Configure where the plugin's modifications apply. You can choose to filter excerpts only from the_excerpt() or also from the_content(), and enable or disable the functionality on specific page types like single posts or WooCommerce product pages.
