Asset Loader

Asset Loader provides PHP functions for registering and enqueuing Webpack-generated JavaScript and CSS assets in themes or plugins. It works with both wp-scripts builds and custom Webpack configurations that output a JSON asset manifest.

• Automatic dependency and version detection: For wp-scripts builds, reads the .asset.php file to extract script dependencies and version numbers, eliminating manual updates.
• Manifest-based asset loading: For custom Webpack setups, uses a JSON asset manifest to map bundle names to DevServer URIs or production file paths, supporting hot module replacement during development.
• Block extension support: Attach additional scripts and styles to existing core or third-party blocks via a block.json file, without registering new blocks.
• Flexible enqueue functions: enqueue_script_asset() and enqueue_manifest_asset() accept optional extra dependencies and custom handles, giving control over loading order and script registration.
• Works in editor and frontend: Functions are designed for use with both enqueue_block_editor_assets and wp_enqueue_scripts hooks, covering all asset contexts.
