Edit Author Slug

This plugin gives site administrators and authorized users direct control over the URL structure of author pages. It is designed for those who need to customize user permalinks beyond the default username-based slugs, allowing for cleaner, more descriptive, or role-specific author URLs.

• Edit Individual Author Slugs: Change the default author slug (typically the username) for any user to a custom text, numeric ID, or hash. This update permanently alters the user_nicename field in the database.
• Modify the Global Author Base: Replace the default '/author/' segment in all author page URLs with a custom string, or remove it entirely to create a flatter site structure.
• Set Role-Based Author Bases: Define different URL bases (e.g., '/staff/', '/contributors/') that apply automatically based on a user's role, allowing for intuitive site organization.
• Maintains Data Integrity: Changes to a user's author slug are stored directly in the user table and persist even if the plugin is deactivated. The author base setting reverts to default only upon plugin deletion.
• Granular Permission Control: Editing capabilities are tied to the standard edit_users WordPress capability, ensuring only authorized personnel can make changes.
