FAU-Einrichtungen

FAU-Einrichtungen is a WordPress theme built specifically for central institutions of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). It provides a consistent, branded web presence for departments, research centers, and administrative units within the university. The theme was actively used from October 2015 to November 2025 as the central theme for FAU and continues to serve cooperative and legacy websites.

• FAU-specific design and branding: The theme includes custom typography using Roboto and FAU Chimera fonts, along with color schemes and layouts that align with FAU's corporate identity. This ensures all institution websites maintain a unified look.
• SASS-based styling with Gulp automation: Developers can compile SASS files into minified CSS using the included Gulp script. The build process also adds vendor prefixes, updates language files, and increments version numbers automatically.
• Faculty child theme support: The theme supports child themes for individual faculties (phil, nat, tf, rw, med). A Gulp command (gulp clone --theme=[faculty]) creates a ready-to-use variant in a build folder.
• Multilingual ready: A central language file (fau.pot) is automatically updated during builds, making it easier to translate the theme for international audiences.
• Based on Bootstrap 3.3.7: The theme incorporates parts of Bootstrap for responsive grid layouts and UI components, providing a solid foundation for mobile-friendly websites.

FAU-Einrichtungen is licensed under GPL v3 and maintained by the RRZE-Webteam. It is available on GitHub with documentation and issue tracking for community feedback.
