Freifunk Stuttgart

Freifunk Stuttgart is a community-driven project that creates a free, open wireless mesh network across the Stuttgart region. It is designed for residents, businesses, and visitors who want reliable internet access without relying on centralized providers. By installing a router with Freifunk firmware, participants become nodes that extend the network, forming a self-organizing infrastructure.

Community-built network – Each node contributes to a growing mesh, increasing coverage area and signal strength for everyone.

Freifunk Stuttgart operates under the principles of the international Freifunk community: free access, no registration, encrypted traffic, and neutrality. The network functions independently of internet service providers, but nodes can be connected to the internet via the node owner's existing connection to provide global access.
