My Lathe Theme

Lathe is a starter theme for WordPress that uses Timber and Twig to provide a clean, modular foundation for custom theme development. It is designed for developers who prefer Twig templates over classic PHP templates. The theme includes a custom template hierarchy, an asset bundling pipeline, and several pre-built Twig utilities to speed up development.

• Template Structure: Twig templates are organized with inheritance and blocks, allowing you to extend and override reusable parts of the markup.
• Custom Template Hierarchy: Lathe lets you manage the template hierarchy yourself, giving you full control over which template file is used for each request.
• Static Asset Pipeline: Uses Vite to bundle CSS, JavaScript, and other assets. Define files in assets.txt and use the asset() Twig function to enqueue them with cache-busting hashes.
• Pre-made Twig Utilities: Includes additional Twig functions and filters, such as a size filter for resizing images, plus sample code for custom post types and taxonomies.

Lathe requires the Timber plugin and optionally integrates with Advanced Custom Fields. It also provides a local development environment via wp-env.
