OpenSpending

This plugin lets you embed OpenSpending.js visualizations directly into your posts and pages using shortcodes. It is built for journalists, researchers, and site owners who publish public spending data and want to display it as interactive charts without writing custom code.

• Shortcode-based insertion: Use the [openspending] shortcode to place a visualization anywhere in your content. No HTML or JavaScript editing required.
• Three required attributes: Each shortcode must specify type (visualization style), dataset (the OpenSpending dataset), and drilldowns (dimensions to explore). This keeps configuration explicit and predictable.
• Treemap and bubbletree support: Choose between a treemap for hierarchical data or a bubbletree for categorical comparisons. The bubbletree includes optional icon and color support for COFOG classifications.
• Direct dataset linking: Visualizations pull data live from openspending.org, so your charts always reflect the latest dataset without manual updates.
• Minimal setup: Upload the plugin folder to your site's plugins directory, activate it from the admin panel, and start adding shortcodes. No theme modifications or additional dependencies required.
