This add-on handles the complex task of adjusting membership payments when members upgrade or downgrade their level. It is designed for site owners using a membership plugin who need fair, automated billing for level changes without manual calculations.

• Automatic Proration: Calculates the correct charge at checkout based on time remaining in the current billing period, whether upgrading to a higher tier or changing payment frequency.
• Delayed Downgrades: When a member downgrades, they keep their current access until the end of the prepaid period. The system then automatically switches them to the lower level and starts the new recurring payment.
• Same or Different Billing Periods: Works for changes within the same billing cycle (e.g., monthly to monthly) and across different cycles (e.g., monthly to annual), applying distinct calculation rules for each.
• Preserves Recurring Dates: For same-period changes, the member's original recurring payment date is maintained. For different-period changes, the subscription renews one full period from the checkout date.
• Developer Filters: Provides hooks like pmpro_is_downgrade and pmpro_have_same_payment_period to customize proration logic for unique site requirements.
