Rave Alert Notification

This plugin is designed for WordPress multisite networks that need to display emergency alerts from the Rave Alert system. It parses Common Alert Protocol (CAP) XML feeds to extract alert descriptions and calculates the display time range for each message. The alert is injected immediately after the opening body tag on every page of the network.

Key features and benefits:

• CAP feed parsing: Automatically fetches and processes CAP XML feeds every 60 seconds using WP Cron, storing the contents as a Network Option to reduce load on the RAVE CAP feed.
• Rapid alert dissemination: Prioritizes speed over caching, aiming to display alerts to all users within 120 seconds of the alert appearing on the CAP feed. API endpoints include a required time parameter to support server-side caching for most requests.
• Optional archiving: Can create a standard post or custom post type entry for each alert on a specified site within the network, providing a permanent record of emergency messages.
• Manual message support: Allows network administrators to enable and set a manual alert message directly from the settings page, independent of the CAP feed.
• Network-wide configuration: Designed for network activation, with a settings page to configure the CAP feed URL, archiving options, and manual message text. Requires FontAwesome or Glyphicons for icon display.
