OES Core

Open Encyclopedia System (OES) is a standardized, web-based research software for creating, publishing, and maintaining scholarly lemma-based online publications such as encyclopedias, lexicons, and handbooks in the humanities and social sciences. It provides an open-access solution for these types of works, complementing existing tools for journals and monographs.

• Open-source foundation: Built as a plugin with associated themes, extending a popular content management system's architecture with a separate publication and editorial environment for encyclopedic features.
• Lemma-based publishing: Supports the structured creation and management of individual entries (lemmas), enabling systematic reference works.
• Open-access delivery: Designed to publish content freely online, making scholarly knowledge accessible without paywalls.
• Support and partnership: Offers consultation for planning and implementing online reference works, as well as collaboration on projects using OES. Developed at Freie Universität Berlin.
