This plugin adds a custom field type for requesting and caching Google Maps Directions API data within a popular CMS custom fields framework. It is designed for developers building sites that need to display routes or directions on interactive maps, providing a structured way to manage this data in the admin area.

Directions Data Caching: Sends a request to the Google Maps API and stores the full response (including polyline data) directly in the field. This prevents repeated API calls on the front end, saving quota and improving load times.
Coordinate Input: Allows you to specify start and end points, along with optional waypoints, directly within the CMS admin interface. The field handles the API request generation for you.
Front-End Integration: The stored data is ready to be passed to JavaScript mapping libraries, making it simple to render the route, display step-by-step directions, or utilize the encoded polyline.
Admin Workflow: Includes a 'Generate' button to manually trigger the API request. The original coordinates are not saved independently, ensuring the displayed route always matches the latest generated data from Google.
